4 CUET Exam Details That You Must Know Related to CUET Exam Pattern 2023

CUET 2023 will perhaps be conducted in 2 shifts, i.e. Morning and Afternoon shifts.

The morning shift has 3 slots separated for Language, Domain, and General Tests. While in the afternoon shift, you will have just the language and domain paper.

All the papers will be Computer-based. But the tweak is that you don’t have to present for all languages or all domain tests to qualify for admission to your desired college.

All applicants must mandatorily present for the 3 sections. A maximum of 9 papers/ exams can be taken by an applicant. 

What combinations can you make to finalize your 9 exams? You can perhaps write 3 language tests, 5 domain tests, and 1 general test, or you can write 2 language tests/papers, 6 domain tests, and 1 general test/paper.

Keeping in mind the diversity of students (in means of streams and boards), NTA has decided to give choices in all question papers. Howbeit, the total number of questions to be attempted by any candidate remains similar for all.

For selecting the languages, domain test, or general test, it is compulsory to refer to the requirements of your intended university. Your choices MUST equal the requirements of the University. 

CUET Exam Pattern 2023 for Language Test/Paper (Section 1A and Section 1B)

According to the CUET Syllabus, the Language test is to examine your proficiency/ skills in the Language opted, and the question paper in respect of the similar will be available to you in the medium opted by you. The Question Paper of the Language Test/paper will not be bi-lingual. 

There are 13 languages in Section 1A and 20 languages in Section 1B to opt from.

Your proficiency will be tested via Reading Comprehension based on different kinds of passages–Factual, Literary, and Narrative, [Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary] MCQ-Based Questions. 

For whichever language paper you opt for, you have to attempt 40 questions in each of the 50 questions provided in the paper.

The time of each language paper is 45 minutes, meaning in case you choose to appear for 3 language papers, then the maximum time of the exam shall be 2 hours 25 minutes.

CUET 2023 Exam Pattern for Domain Test/Paper (Section II)

There are 27 domain subjects to opt from; however, you can appear for 5/6 domain subjects in the CUET Exam.

The number of domain subjects differs as per your choice of language test. These subjects will have questions depending on the syllabus given by NTA in MCQ format.

You must be well attentive to the course and university you are applying to select your domain subjects.

You will get 45 minutes to attempt 40 questions in any domain Test/paper. The maximum period for this section can be 4 hours and 30 minutes.

You first must give 2 domain papers in slot 1 while the rest are taken in slot 2.

The examination duration will increase with the increasing number of domain subjects.

CUET Exam Pattern 2023 for General Test/Paper (Section III)

This is an optional exam based on the university and course requirements that you select. 

Questions Depending on General Knowledge(GK), Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of General mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/menstruation /stat taught till Standard 8), and Logical and Analytical Reasoning are asked in this specific section.

60/75 displayed questions have to be answered for this section.

The sum duration to attempt the questions in this section is 60 minutes.

The questions will be in MCQ pattern in English, and the language is selected in Section I.

The total mark that you can earn in this section is 300.

CUET Exam Pattern 2023 Marking Blueprint

For Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): To solve a question, you must select one option corresponding to the correct answer or the most appropriate answer.

However, in case any anomaly or discrepancy is found further the process of challenges of the key verification, it must be addressed in the following manner: 

Valid answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5).

Any invalid option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).

Unattempt/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).

In case more than one option is found to be correct then five marks (+5) will be awarded to just those who have marked any of the correct options.

In case all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.

In case none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be invalid or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be provided five marks(+5) marks.
