How to Stay Motivated and Focused in Online Classes

With the advancing technologies, students prefer online education over offline classes as they provide a lot of comfort and convenience, in addition to being affordable and accessible.

Now, the only challenging part that students usually feel with this kind of an online learning setup is staying motivated and focused with their studies. Well, not to forget that there are too many distractions as well along with it (other perks of advanced technology) such as “Netflix and chill”, “Social Media notifications”, and so on. Also, many students have low concentration periods which might lead to zoning out often.

Remember that you are not alone in this journey. Many students struggle with the same problem. So, just to help you overcome procrastination, and how to stay focused and motivated, let us see a few things that you can do about it in this article.

Staying motivated and focused in online classes

Remember WHY you are here

Just before diving into any online coaching classes, make sure you know and completely understand why you joined the class in the first place. You need to keep your end goal right in front of your mind at all times while attending the class. Whenever you are joining the online class for clearing some competitive examination, or you wish to score the best grades in your school, or it might be anything – you simply need to remember it. this is sure to keep you in the right direction and keep reminding yourself of your purpose.

Create a routine and stick to it

Truth be told, even though online classes come with the most important benefit of providing convenience of time or rather the flexibility, the downside of the same can lead to procrastination. therefore, it is extremely necessary that you create a routine for yourself, starting from waking up at the same time daily and having your breakfast, lunch and dinner on time, then having a fixed study schedule, and so on. This will definitely keep you on track and help you stay focused and disciplined. You need this to achieve your long-term goals.

Active participation in online class

This one sure helps in keeping you focused in an online lecture, when you think you are going to drift off. It is better to unmute yourself and ask those questions, however silly they might seem (remember, there is no silly question ever). Also, make sure to involve yourself in the class by being more interactive, engaging with others, (not disturbing anyone), taking notes, etc.

Keep yourself on “DO NOT DISTURB” mode

These days keeping yourself away from distractions might really seem like a task, especially when you have so much going on on various social media channels, movies and web series to catch up with, sometimes, simply the household distraction with noises, and even your wandering mind. You can get rid of this by simply putting your phones on the “Do-not-disturb” mode and even taking a step further to let your friends and family know of your study schedule, so that they do not disturb you. You can even try using noise cancelling headphones to avoid any external noise that might disturb you.

Create smaller manageable goals

Instead of creating just one big goal that might seem overwhelming, you can simply break your goal into smaller chunks, such as setting daily or even weekly targets to meet. These mini goals are sure to keep you motivated throughout your online learning process and help your focus better as well.

Having the right support support system
